Maybe that's why the Czech's think their "absinth" is good; they're used to drinking really nasty stuff. |

I consider something along the lines of Cisco to better fit the descriptive 'flavored embalming fluid'. Stock Fernet I equate to something like 'empyreumatic extract of dirty socks'. I haven't looked at the bottle in awhile, but I believe this product is of Czech origin (the label is entirely in Czech). |

"Cynar + Coke = a Cyco" That might be worth a try. |

Nah, the only way to drink bitters is neat, room temp, in a tall shot glass or grappa glass. |

Mix Cynar with Coke and you get a Cyco. |

"Stock Fernet" sounds like embalming fluid. Is it also made in Italy like FB? |

Fernet Branca is like candy in comparison to "Stock Fernet" (gag), which is supposedly the top-selling aperitif in the Czech Republic. It's only a matter of time before someone slaps an "absinth" label on it. |

Im looking for something to replace bourbon because recently I seem to go off the deep end for no reason. Maybe you can mix cynar with soda, still gag but get drunk? |

"Remind me to avoid this shelf. $7.99 indeed!" Apparently, the patrons need no reminder, as the two bottles of the stuff were covered with dust; more so than it looks in the picture. I think I broke a cobweb or two pulling it out to the edge of the shelf. It was next to the Dubonnet. On the back label are some tasty serving suggestions, such as Cynar with Coke. |

I can't imagine getting very drunk on Fernet Branca! It is so bitter and astringent it's like sucking on a styptic pencil. I can only swallow a small amount if I hold my breath while drinking- but then I still practically gag when I take a breath! It does settle the stomach though. |

You can get black money at the currency exchange booth this side of the River Styx. Just don't pay the ferryman until he gets you to the other side! I beg of you!! (And don't forget to feast upon the black fruit when you arrive in the Land of the Dead. It's very juicy.) "Had the Land of the Dead dream again last night..." |

If you already see hallucinations what would Fernet Branca do? |

"Fernet Branca (which allegedly has thujone, for what it's worth). " I mentioned this before, but for you newbies. Many years ago, in Argentina, a friend told me about someone who would get drunk on Fernet Branca and see hallucinations. This is very interesting because neither this friend (nor I) had any notion of thujone, or absinthe. |

Hey, we paid way more than that at Bevmo! I had a nip (or two) of the old artichoke after dinner last night. It's an acquired taste. I think it's quite pleasant, but I like bitters (amaro etc). The only one I haven't acquired a taste for is (ugh) Fernet Branca (which allegedly has thujone, for what it's worth). |

What the FDA ignores is that Cynar contains "artichokejone". In large enough amounts it produces interesting secondary effects. |

I went back to the liquor store this past weekend, but the bottle of Absente was gone. But they did have something else with exotic vegetal matter in it. UMMMMMMMMMMMMM! |
