Inspiried by Wolfgang's poem, but much darker.

Opaline dreams
and secret fantasies,
a world revealed
that was never so
hidden.

Images of another time
haunt the poet,
torturing his mind.
Before his eyes phantasms appear.
He flows with feeling; this
bitter thing has evoked
the ghosts of a bygone era.

His pen is halted,
demons grip what thoughts
he may have. This
bitter thing has unleashed
a wrath, a deluge. His
mind is a maelstrom of
surreal visions: the unspeakable
dances with the pleasant.

"This bitter thing, this opaline
nightmare, loosed a thousand
plagues from its green bosom,
demented men's minds and
haunted them to
madness."
