I should think making the bidders aware of this discussion would be a kind and decent thing to do.

So would letting them know that Ebay's fraud "protection" will only refund up to $175 of their money.

As for the seller, let him state his case here, en anglais ou francais.

Any potential bidders who click on the auction's "bid history" option will see that one bid has been retracted, along with an explanation from the bidder: "Concerned about unmatched bottle and labeling, may be fake".

Otherwise, I wouldn't contact bidders directly.

Wolfgang has already contacted the seller and asked what needed to be asked. If the seller refuses to listen, that's his problem.

Should we inform bidders of this situation? Not telling them outright that the bottle is a fake, but making them aware of our observations. The seller should also be aware of this, I am not going to assume instantly that he is a fraud, as I have seen him sell good and valid items before.

thoughts?

And unless Cusenier made another kind of bottle, this one is not even an Oxygene absinthe bottle (I have an Oxy poster at home that clearly show an embosed round space to put the wax seal).

The question is what's in this damn bottle ?

Let's not forget that there's still a possibility that the guy just got abused by another seller...

And someone has already retracted his/her bid. The word is out.

Ok, let`s forget about it...

My question :

Quote:

Qu'est-il écrit dans le verre, sur le haut de la bouteille ? Est-ce Cusenier ? Si tel est le cas ne trouvez pas cela étrange que la bouteille ne porte pas plutot une étiquette Oxygénée ???

What's writen in the glass? ...Is it Cusenier ? Don't you find it strange that the bottle doesn't have an Oxygene label ?

Dubied, GustaveMonsieur,
Cordialement

You will probably say I doctored this page. Dubied was the nefew of Courvoisier (sic???) I do not doubt about your knowledge... but before accusing you should turn your tongue 4 times in your mouth

Merci de repondre a ces 2 mails, par courtoisie!!!!

My answer :

Bonjours,

Cordialement,

I do not accuse you, I'm just asking a question about something strange concerning this bottle. I once saw another bottle of Dubied and it was not the same. That's why I'm asking.

I thank you for those notes about family link to courvoisier but I don't see how it's related to Cusenier ...

That should be enough to draw our own conclusions...

By coincidence, I think Ted once posted here the antique image that the seller has doctored.

That's some fakery, because the vintage photo included in the auction also shows the same Oxy bottle with the Duval label. Ermeto should make a living off of his photoshop skills as opposed to bogus absinthe auctions.

Depends ... do you want vintage absinthe or vintage pastis? If it's even pastis!

Can someone post a picture of the original photo ?

But he could still plead innocence on grounds that the photo and bottle were both supplied by someone else... sad though. Now that I think of it, jabi has been selling "genuine" unauthentic crapola forever with no consequences at all...

I think some more investigations will be needed on that one... And I`m still waiting for answers to the second email I sent him asking about ''cusenier''... I wonder why he didn`t answered yet.. ;-)

But let`s not jump to fast on easy conclusions...

He's already got a pretty bad rep, for a seller...

The doctored antique photo indicates that it was intentional.

If this was done intentionally it will get "ermeto" banned from Ebay. Has anyone here dealt with this seller before? Do you think this was deliberate?

You should invite him to NYC

Already done a long time ago but unless he`s willing to surprise us, he said he won`t be available.

The seller also told me the reserve so if there`s a serious buyer among us willing to buy for the GT, just ask.

I also asked about the cusenier thing...we`ll see what he have to say about it, I`m still waiting for an answer on that one.
