Tell your friend, if he doesn't already know it, that Buenos Aires's Gran Café Tortoni has an antique absinthe spoon (with the initials C.T.) in its display case. There is also a silver absinthe spoon holder/vase on the bar counter -- it now contains drinking straws.

A friend of mine in Buenos Aires has a special absinthe room in his home. The walls are all painted green, the windows painted black, low sofas and cushions, a Moorish cut glass colored lantern hangs from the ceiling, and a big 19th century French poster of the green fairy decorates one wall. You dont know if it is day or night in there. Very cool.
