Ah, that's the big question, isn't it. What I've gathered so far is that there are a bunch of theories about the wheel working by a complex system of internal pendulums, but that all of the models they've come up with suffer from the same problem of regular pendulums: you have to get them started, which Bessler was not observed to have done.

A question:

If this gentleman has uncovered the general form of the interior workings, why is he publishing this on the Internet, rather than partnering with a mechanical engineer and building test models?

Ganna take a little time to digest all of that, so it'll have to wait until I get to work and have some free time. ;)

Dear JOHN COLLINS ;-)

It appears the third link isn't working. Here's an alternate path to it. Note the author's analysis of Bessler's codified(?) "little book".

""The possibility of decoding these passages was
expressed by Mr. John Collins in his 1997 book Perpetual Motion: An Ancient Mystery Solved?"

Er, _I'M_ Mr. John Collins, thankyouverymuch, and I expressed no such thing! ;)

(My name has caused some amount of confusion in my academic life, since there are not one, but TWO well-known biblical scholars whose names resemble mine (one Jack Collins, the other J.J. Collins), the latter specializing in the same specific era which I focussed on in college. I found myslef, on one occasion, mistaken for Dr. Collins on-line when discussing some detail of the Sanhedrin under Roman rule, which I guess proves I at least run a good line of bullshit...)

Chrysippvs, you'll enjoy the third link especially. (No, not because of its Mormonism.)

Remember the thread about science and the paranormal?

Sink your teeth into this: the perpetual motion machine to end them all.
