I'm sure Winnie the pooh might have a recipe. Perhaps even instructions on how to build a laudinum still. All for just $14.95

Dude, if we can't talk about recipes for absinthe, what makes you think we can talk about recipes for laudanum.

Laudanum - my favorite yet I've never had any, I am considering making some but the recipees I have are fairly basic, mainly disolving opium in pure alcohol. If anyone has a good recipee can they share as ever since reading Fu manchu books and Confessions of an English opium eater I have been keen on producing (because I doubt it still exists anywhere) some laudanum.
So why be bored? Who scared you.

Indeed it is! It's one of those chintzy little tourist dolls from Britain. They still make them and can be very collectible. This was my favorite.

My favorite laudanum addict is Elizabeth Siddal, wife of Rossetti, the Pre-Raphaelite painter and poet. She was herself a budding painter and poet, but Rossetti's Romantic sensibilty would not allow her to be anything but his muse:
Siddal
Rossetti eventually sucked the life out of her and she overdosed on laudanum. At her funeral, in a fit of grief, Rossetti threw all his original, unpublished poems into her casket to be forever buried with her. Years later, when his career was waning, he had her dug up and retrieved the poems.

I really don't know, but I'll go out on a limb here and say almost certainly not. Even countries where opium is a major commercial crop have generally banned private usage. Whether it's tolerated on a small, homegrown, DIY level is another thing. I can't imagine opium will ever be wiped out in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Laos, etc.

Is Laudanum legal anywhere in the world nowadays?
And where are some classic Laudanum recipe pages?
