"Tastes great, less draining ($)."

less draining ($) than what?

i dunno what sort of discount you get or the quantity you are buying at, but i'm paying at a price point equal to or (as of #21) greater than that of the evil "b"

i suppose if you mean that it is available in smaller quantities and thus does not require as sizable an extraction of funds from one's pocket as some, you have a point... but it is quite expensive comparatively...

I might as well give my (a newbie's) answer to this age-old question...

I know Betty get's bagged on a lot in this forum, but I still think the La Bleue she sells is still my favorite absinthe. Even though it's expensive, it's sweet, it louches great, and best of all, it gives me the best thujone effect! I've had Emile 68 and Emile 68 Sapin, which are great, but I assure you, the next 200 bucks I have to blow will go to Betty.

Thanks for the advise Mattm, when I meant cheap I was referring to import tax etc into Australia - I'm always willing to pay more for a quality product but adding tax, postage etc makes it doubly expensive. I was looking at some deva from a spanish outlet but the cost of absinthe wasn't the issue - it was the post and taxes that were the killer
So why be bored? Who scared you.

Speaking of which I got some private stuff called 17 the other day. Its thoroughly enjoyable, and ruining me for most of the commercial stuff.

So basically the thujone content in the underground stuff would be higher than that of the commerical brands. Would the alcohol content be higher as well ? Or can they flip flop it to be a say 45% with a high thujone ?

And the more of it one tries, the more inconsequential the wait seems. If it wasn't for LdF, I'd personaly not order any commercial stuff at all.

If you mean my use of quotes around your words, it had nothing to do with your grammar. I didn't even notice anything wrong with it.

As to the "underground" stuff, ALL of it that's worth drinking at all is better than ANY commercial brand, but not always A LOT better.

I should point out that the two dozen samples I mentioned were tasted over a course of years. That stuff changes hands in VERY small amounts. If you were going to drink nothing else, you would be waiting a long time between drinks, but that sort of waiting doesn't bother me much.
