Depending on what I'm drinking.

I usually use 1.5 oz of HG with an additional 4 oz water and a few ice cubes.
For commercial I go with 2 oz absinthe, 3-4 oz water with a few cubes.

I now use smaller glass that old 1oz 70% absinthe and 4 oz water.

Most vintage glass I saw where bigger and could old at least 1.5oz absinthe, sometimes more.

For a twelve ounce glass I would fill it with about 3oz of absinthe and 9oz of water. I measure by guessing.

I took the glasses I got from SC and dose marked them in small, 1oz increments. I got glass etching solution at a craft shop. Worked great.

I find a pint beer glass with 3.5oz absinthe and 12oz water plus a little ice to be just about right.

I have 3 different types of glasses. I have a 1.5oz dosed Choppe Yvonne, but it doesn't hold what I feel is the right proportion of water, and I tend to get a strong flavour.

I also have a 1 oz East Glas which is very beautiful, but I feel in some cases holds a little too much water and results in a watery drink -this is especially true of lower proof absinthe/pastis.

Finally, I have a set of 1oz swirl glasses that seem to be just right: they hold just enough water to get a good mix.

I guess it depends on your tastes and your mood. Most of the time I use my swirl glasses; some times I like it stronger and use my Choppe Yvonne, and sometimes I'd like it a little on the light side and use my East glass.

I think that's exactly what my Target® Tartan Goblet® is dosed at (for absinthe and for water). Perfect.

I have been busy building a fountain and have purchased some heavy duty hurricane glass barware to double as summer-fun pina colada/absinthe ware (quelle horeur!)

I thought a lightly scored dose and a fill-line would negate the need for any real measuring skill after the first drink (or two, or . . .) I've read that a few of you have adopted smaller size glasses to prevent both warm absinthe and excessive drunkeness. How does 1.5 oz (70%) as a dose with a fill line at 1:4 sound. The hurricane glasses are the standard 12oz-to-the-rim barware. Comments or suggestions solicited.
