"American seamen are also welcomed with open legs by Sasebo's call girls. Most negotiations take place in broken English, though some of the girls struggle to explain peculiarly Japanese practices, such as no insertion ...." HUH? "Lots of services refuse to allow foreign customers in ... " No kidding!

Oooh. Monterey Bay in the news again today: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2003/07/09/MN141430.DTL If they had a hard time with Rogue Shrimp, how do they expect to manage baby great whites?

One of my favorite games is "On The Left, On The Right", where I put the front pages of the Washington Post and the Washington Times next to each other. One year, during an AIDS march, it went something like: Left: "Marchers Mourn Loss, Call For Research" Right: "AIDS March Snarls Traffic" It was also entertaining during Blowjobgate... Even the left-leaning media in the US are right-of-center, generally speaking, but that is indicative of our political spectrum overall. More prevalent than any political bias is a tendency towards sensationalism and over-simplification. I mostly just read the wires... |

This has always been a puzzle to me too... I hate being manipulated and being misinformed. I am amazed at how many different slants one can find on the same story. Surfing through all the news channels during a major news event is very enlightening. Found these sites to be interesting. http://www.cjr.org/owners/index.asp http://www.fair.org/media-woes/media-woes.html and this one just for fun... http://www.opensecrets.org/

There's no such thing as unbiased news. There is, however, uncorporate, independent news, like indymedia.org.

What's your favorite unbiased news source online? I'll take Mark Morford over Ann Coulter any and every day but when even the daily reporting sounds like a heavy handed party line spoof, even I get sick of my normal news sources. Any recommendations? I'm bored...
