And she swam nicely nude in EXTASE (1933).

"This film made the 18 year-old Lamarr a sensation before she arrived in Hollywood. In this classic 'adult film' of the dirty 30's, Lamarr stars as a young woman with the misfortune of having to deal with a less-than-amorous husband. EXTASE daringly pushed the borders of what was socially acceptable in the thirties with its nudity and explicit lovemaking scenes.

Nude scenes include a very naked Hedy Lamarr cheerfully prancing about, swimming, and running through the woods. The film also shows closeups of Lamarr's convincing face during the lovemaking 'sex' scenes. This was unheard of at the time..."

What the hell is Johnny Depp doing to that absinthe???

What the director told him to do, no doubt.

As for actors and musicians being idiots, it's worth pointing out that Hedy Lamarr invented spread-spectrum radio transmission.

There was a version I saw all over Paris with the standard 'spiriteux aux plantes...' schpiel, that had a picture of Van Gogh of all things on the cover... it looked obnoxious, so I didn't look closely but I think it was called 'Absente'.

They also sold something that they called "L'extreme", which was a bitter ("with 3.5 times more thujone!") that they suggested adding to the Absente, to "make it more like what the artists drank."

In other words it seemed goddamned obnoxious so I didn't buy any.

It's not even petite or roman wormwood. It's southernwood.

That is domestically. I believe its different in the EU.
