Frenchman's repros are far from cheap in quality (although if you buy from him, certainly cheap in price). Most of them are silver plated brass and quite nicely made. They're the nicest repros you're likely to come across. If you don't like those, but an antique from A.O.

The reproductions seem pretty dull from what i've seen. I don't really want a cheap shiny spoon, seems like I might be out of luck...

An absinthe spoon? Good luck searching, they're scarce as hell. I heard a rumour that there was one for sale in France last year, but it was snapped up within hours.
Perhaps if you went and lived in France or Switzerland for a year or two, you might get lucky. Don't even bother trying online - there's no mention of them on the internet at all (I mean, if you type "absinthe spoons" into Google all you get is 1330 listings, headed up by ABSINTHESPOON.COM and ABSINTHEORIGINALS.COM, so that's certainly no use at all.) |
