It looks very similar in color/louche to the Pastis Juvanis I found in St. Lucia, West Indies. |

1948 Herbsaint, out of the bottle neat, an amber color, nice clean anise scent with something in the background I can't identify, not at all like the current incarnation of modern Herbsaint.
When water is added, the Herbsaint louched like a nicely made Absinthe, very opalescent.
Taste was very smooth, 55 years seemed to have worn well with this bottle, nice round taste.
Herbsaint would have made a nice base for a real Absinthe, had Legendre been able to produce one.
It's shame that Legendre doesn't make Herbsaint like they used to, this was a nice product in it's day.
