some recipes i found call for brewer's yeast, and some say to use yeast used for making bread... but most recipes i found use stale sour rye bread as the base for the mash (instead of grains and yeast, i.e. bread's base as well).

Am I to believe
that the Eagle
is a drunk?

Or an agent of
drunkeness?

Is that why drinking
is l'eagle and
smoking dope is
ill l'eagle?

ah ok, found some references to the Odin mythology and beer etc...

apparently, it revolves around the myths pertaining to Kvasir... the wisest of the Vanir who were deities fashioned from the spittle of the gods... Kvasir's name is related to the russian word kvas which refers to a fermented drink similar to beer, but stronger... Kvasir was invited to a "feast" by two dwarven brothers... when he arrived at their cave, they killed him, drained his blood, and mixed it with honey... they kept this mixture in two jars and a cauldron wherein it fermented, creating the first mead... those said to drink of this mead become inspired poets... eventually, this mead ends up hidden and guarded inside a mountain... Odin eventually scams his way into the mountain to drink the mead by becoming various animals and things... after Odin has drunk the mead, he takes the form of an eagle and flies the mead home to Asgard.

norse mythology (can't find which, but a couple beer related sites say so...) has it that Odin disguised as an eagle spilled the secret to beer from the skies...

in the Hindu scripture, the Rig Veda, it was an eagle that brought forth soma to humankind... ok, not necessarily a liquor, was a hallucinogenic beverage thought to be made from psylocibic shrooms...

and before then...

in the 1300s, the aztecs founded the city of Tenochtitlan... which was a word pertaining to the home of the god of the agave plant... from which we receive various heavenly nectars including: pulque, mezcal, and tequila... the home of the god of the agave plant was of course marked by an eagle perched atop a cactus with a snake in it's mouth...

a slight stretch of the imagination to consider that a liquor advertisement, but it works in my mind! hehe
