"and I'm going to post a PLEASE STEAL THIS on the front page. Or something. Heh."

A very generous move on your part, certainly more than these people who steal your work deserve... but on the other hand, probably a lot less work than tracking down and threatening all these vultures.

Thanks kids!

I've emailed the guy and given him 2 days to remove the item before Ebay takes it down.

and I'm going to post a PLEASE STEAL THIS on the front page. Or something. Heh.

Yea, I saw that...
Actually, if it's authentic, I think that would be cool to have. Although, $75 and reserve not met.

Definately a serious epidemic of toomuchmoneyitis. Of course I shouldn't talk; it's hard to justify to people why I would spend 80-200 dollars on a bottle of liquor.

The auction is 100% legit, and one of those rare eBay miracle sales - judging from the very rudimentary initial description, the absence of a reserve price, and the starting bid of $9, the seller initially had absolutely no idea of what he had.

Antique fishing lures is a huge collecting field, and Heddon is the most sought after early manufacturer. Many pre-1910 lures routinely go for upwards of $5000. Judging from the brass (rather than nickel plated) eyescrews, the lure is a very early one, probably dating from around 1904-1905.

It's strange what people collect and the factors that determine an individual items worth.

I can just imagine the seller's ebay bill for their comission. The scary thing is that all the bidders have excellent feedback so it doesn't seem to be gag bids. Perhaps it's the holy grail of fishing lures.

If you look at the bid history, there's a lot of folks in on the gag.

I'm pretty sure that 31k bid for the fishing lure is a gag bid. It's pretty funny though.

What gets sold on Ebay is always a common topic here. You think absinthe related items go for high prices. Check out what this fishing lure sold for on Ebay.

$31k for a fishing lure? It's just a fishing lure. I could make one just like it for $2.

Well, there's another ebay seller with a website trying to promote DIY absinthe kits. This one comes with a twist. They offer lab glassware for illicit activities. And.....alot of the info regarding abisnthe is just plain wrong!
What a deal!
