"Lautrec was a genius."

Could be, but I doubt it had anything to do with spoons.

"maybe TL did the design for somebody else ... "

Maybe he never had anything to do with those spoons or any other spoons. This isn't really my area, but if there is any credible evidence that ties those spoons to Lautrec in any way whatsoever, I've not seen it. Where is it?

Some more info... Delahaye say the total lenght of the original is 178mm ... I measure 181 mm n the repro I got.

I`ll eventually get the other repro...

Ok, I did test my new TL spoon repro. It is wonderful and have been designed my a genius who obsiously had the same requirements as I do.

You can place the sugar on the little area where there`s no hole (on the handle side of the holes) and you drop water there. That way the water don`t force the sugar directly through the holes but just slowly push it in it as it disolve. Lautrec was a genius.

And by the way, a tought crossed my mind when I was dripping the water...maybe TL did the design for somebody else ... Maybe it was a private order from one of his admirers just like any other work of art ?

I just got my spoons from Absinthespoon. The monogram is the same as the one we can see in Delahaye`s book but there`s also many little imperfections elswhere on the spoon so that it can`t be mistaken for the original (and there's a "frenchman" mark on the handle anyway). It is a nice modern spoon.

The semi #1 repros are also wonderful.

Damn! I just found out that the ''Un Pernod'' lozange #7 is a post-absinthe spoon... Too late, I won the damn auction.

Now please someone tell me it's at least from the 30s or before !

Anyway it was not that expensive... A bad buy anyway, I should have checked the small notes in Delahaye's book before bidding...

Wolfgang,
you didnīt really ask where the #20 went to,
did you?
There is a link on page 1 of this thread, there
you will find it.
And yes, a repro of this spoon, and of the Grillage #6 as well, would be gorgeous!

Anyway I`m not a collector. I buy spoons to use it. I like spoons with small holes that doesn`t let big undissolved sugar lump fall into the glass. I found out that star shaped holes are the best (So far my favorite is the "semi de trefles et d'etoiles #4). I have two of those new repro of the "semi..." #1 on order, it will probably be as nice as my #4 to fulfill that purpose.

"Les feuilles" #20 to 24 are probably even better but it is really too rare and expensive. It would be nice to get a fine repro of one of those...

(who got the feuille #20 we saw on ebay last year ?)

Definitly, I guess this one could get a kind of "favourite" like the Cuillere #1. It looks pretty cool and comes very close to the original.

Wolfgang, compare it yourself to the one displayed at MCD book and decide which one you prefer.

Alandia appears to have the LDF spoon, although Markus appears to have a different monogram on his. It's tought to tell because the pic resolution isn't too good. Perhaps he'll chime in.
