Well, it's raining again here. I had plans to go to the OAH this weekend, but due to the weather and insane crowds (and traffic), I didn't make it. I will be there soon enough to inquire and take some digital shots.

Nice Card, Kaladmin.

The Absinthe House Bar circa 1938, with the two goddess fountains.

Absinthe Bar

On the back:

THE OLD ABSINTHE BAR

One of the most unique Bars in the entire United States, is The Old Absinthe Bar, on the corner of Bourbon and Conti Streets. Established in 1806, it remains today in a wonderful state of preservation and is the oldest bar now standing in New Orleans.

Pierre Cazebonne, Proprietor

There was a custom guitar maker that had images of two guitars on his webpage, that were said to have been made from the bar.
The last I saw of the website, was from Googles cache, I don't think it is up anymore.
I wonder if the bar was cut down to fit in someones home?

Yes, the bar was stored in a warehouse down the street from the original Absinthe House...However, it has been said that within the past year or two it was destroyed and the wood was used to make guitar bodies.

Now, this is just something that I heard and was confirmed with a nod by a very reliable source, but, as it was an uncomfortable subject, we left it at that. I do not know if this is actually true. So, If anyone has any info on this, I'd sure like to know.

Also, who knows...the statues on top of the fountains could have been removed for cleaning or to protect them. I'll know soon enough.

I brought up this Old Absinthe House Bar / Daq Hut subject about a year ago, but damned if I can find it in the archives. Anyway, Ted knew quite a bit about it, and I think he was sure that that the old bar had been disassembled and was in storage. If the Daquari Retards are allowing those classic fountains to get banged up or ripped off... tragedy

btw - any news on "Jade?"
