The simple fact about Absinthe becoming legal in the US: it isn't going to happen unless somebody puts a lot of money into it. In order to get something approved for human consumption by the FDA, you have to pay for all the research proving it to be safe. Big pharmaceutical companies have enough of a profit motive to do this (not just with drugs, but with food addatives like aspartame), and the political connections to get it done. Smaller pharmacos often don't bother trying to get drugs approved in the US, simply because it costs more than they can hope to make back. It is unlikely that a liquor company would every go to the trouble, especially when they can meet most of the demand with a fake-out like Absente.

Hrmm. I suppose La Fee costs around that when you get done with currency exchange, shipping, taxes, and all from eAbsinthe. Bah. I guess that you still got a deal out of the whole thing, though, since you didn't have to deal with worrying about customs, and you knew exactly when your bottle would arrive. I've been ordering from Markus lately. Exellent prices, and good packaging.

Ahem. I wasn't aware that old bill smoked any reefer in the whitehouse. I was aware, however, of some of his adventures in college. Neither am I aware of Bill ever trying any czech mouthwash. I am, however, vaguely aware of a few pre-1900 presidents who may of experimented with the green fairy. What you might find interesting, though, is that there are numberous accounts telling of Jack Kennedy's marijuana binges in the whitehouse. Although, a good majority of them tells of him using it for an aching back. Which still seems unfair because, although I don't particularly like the drug personally for recreation, marijuana certainly has some medicinal qualities that I believe should be available to the general public legally. There certainly couldn't be anything worst than going blind.

Don't hold your breath. It may become legal right about the time a certain "product" comes to market.

For where to drink Absinthe try the Time Out Pubs & Bar Guide. I just saw an article recomending this book for those looking for absinthe in London. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0903446693/ref%3Dpd%5Fsim%5Fb%5Fdp/202-4440968-3269447

Ain't much in Ol' London Town.
Can bring them back if they don't quaver. Which they shouldn't, because they aren't doing anything wrong. But, some dogs choke on the bone, see what I'm sayin'?
Where once I was lost, I now come back to pee.

I have a friend going to London soon and have a couple of questions...What brands of absinthe are available in London?
She will also be going to Scotland, is there any available there?
And lastly, can she bring a bottle or two back on the plane?
She will be going in June so I want to get any info I can before then. Thanks.
