maybe the guy who wants to sell the other, better
edition needed to tweek everyone's interest...it certainly makes the maitres de l'affiche print seem like a deal...or so one would be lead to believe...remember the same full bottle of vintage pernod with the partial label returned to e-bay shortly after it was sold at the 'correct price'...

Any comments on the remarkable price apparently fetched by the small Absinthe Robette poster on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1415537119
Not a full-size original (which are about 5ft x 31/2ft) but a tiny (12" x 8") contemporary reproduction made for the Les Affiche Etrangeres portfolio (very similar to the Maitres de l'affiche series). These normally run at about $200 each on auction, with particularly desirable prints perhaps touching $400 or $500 absolute tops - this one sold for an incredible $1925!
The exact same poster in the larger, more desirable and usually more expensive "Maitres' de l'affiche" printing has remained unsold for many months at one of the most expensive online vintage poster resellers, priced at $590.
Only two bidders chased it up after $400 - and one of these has no feedback and dark glasses....hmmmmm......
