":-O ...this is scary! I wonder what the painter imbibed before creating this - surely not good Absinthe"
I don't know much about the artist's bio, actually, but I do have a few more of his paintings at:

Check out his self portrait... spooky. Symbolists always did make the most fascinating self-portraits...

Symbolist? Does it symbolize an absinthe drinker? Whoa!
Sorry, I'm a nuclear-powered curmudgeon when it comes to art talk...
When it comes to art work, I can't do enough. I just updated my web site. I didn't post on the last "show us your art" link because I hadn't updated it then. There's a new statement, three new sculptures on the sculpture page, and some new photos on the Links page. I'm moving into botanical subject matter now, check the rose on the sculpture page.

:-O ...this is scary! I wonder what the painter imbibed before creating this - surely not good Absinthe, I guess the painting would have a less morbid charme then...
Absinthe-la mort?

This is a painting I came across in my usual round of diggings, it's by a painter I quite like, Leon Spilliaert, a Belgian Symbolist. It's called "The Absinthe Drinker" and is from 1907. I haven't seen it in the galleries on this site so here it is...

Unfortunately the only copy I found is black and white. One can still glimpse that all too familiar "hollow gaze" however and wonder what she sees before her eyes...
