ted, i must say i'm impressed with your palate. it was hard for me to taste much besides sugar in the manguin. i found it much sweeter than anything else i've tried, it is my least favorite among all the "absinthes" and related drinks i've sampled. if oxygenee is anything like it, i won't bother.

I received a bottle of Manguin today. I found some similarity in the core flavor between this product and Oxygenee. Oxygenee is not quite as sweet and carries some type of artemisia 'infusion' flavor, while Manguin is much more syrupy and carries a different bitter texture. The core of both of them however tastes similar. Neither one seem to contain much in the way of anise. My hunch is that these (and many other) 'absinthes' would be downright nasty without all that sugar.
