Talking of Absinthine, the name at least dates from the late nineteenth century - this poster was issued in 1893. Several have come on the market recently - a French collector found a small cache. I wonder if it was just the name for a brand of absinthe, or whether perhaps it was a kind of modified absinthe-related drink?

another pastis maker jumps into the 'etraits aux plantes d'absinthe' ring...50° and uh, well, my 'cavist' had a bottle, but he couldn't sell it to me because he didn't know how much it retailed for...but he did say he liked oxygénée better...i'm sure i'll pick up a bottle...sometime...bof...
