Did it have white-ish sediment in the bottom?

Among my travels I happened to be in Greece on a number of occasions and lived there for a little while. while there I came across a contraband liquor called Chipurro which my friends dubbed the "Greek Absinthe" It was sually made at home in the hills and had a very similar taste to some absinthe and did have very different ëffects"than ouzo. Has anyone else come across this and what do they know it to be?
