This next year i will make too fake tour eiffels,
BUT, i will stamp them with my brand "FRENCHMAN" and i will sell them for modern spoon for a very cheap price.
(I hope it will break this market of fakes.
The dishonest maker of tour Eiffel understood that all tourists who come in France and who love absinthe dream to have this spoon.
The matter is that he prefers to sell them for genuine to do always more money)

My previous message below was for the Tour Eiffel #2.
(i was not able to read the tour #1 with netscape on Mac, but now it is OK with Explorer)
The principal difference between genuine and fake spoons "Tour Eiffel" is that fakes are mold and genuine stamped. (but it is difficult to see the difference if you never saw a genuine spoon)
I don't like give all differences i saw because it seems me that the maker is ameliorating his making and he is still making spoons...
All tour #1 in silver i saw were fake.
Often, tour #1 (like tour #2 and #3) has been made in a bad metal with a bad plating.

and the other...?

I thin Justin is right . This spoon look like a fake because :
1°/ When you meet a spoon stamped "GUELON" on the handle, you have 95% of risk to see a fake.
2°/ There is a flat under the "Tour Eiffel". I never meet it on old spoons.
3°/ The end of the handle (where GUELON is stamped) is swelling. Usualy, it is flat.
...etc.

although it does look like it has plating that is worn off at the end of the handle...and the seller
has been on e-bay for a while...

if it is in silver, then i don't think it's real,
and why no reserve?

Just a note to the consumer, there is a FAKE tour Eiffel on E-bay. The spoon is the tour Eiffel #2, starting at 199.99.
