It's interesting to think of these people flung all over the globe coming together here over a liquor. And some sticking around for a lot more than that.

I am irrelevantly interested as well. And I started the thread "For Lord Hob".
It's yours baby! Do as you wish.
And I agree w/your person by person assessment (is that too many s's?).

By Lordhobgoblin on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 - 03:49 pm: Edit

Louched,

I'm never upset with nationalities, only with individuals. Nationality is in my view irrelevant and a con to control people (I'll collect as many passports as I am legally entitled to and will salute no flag). I'm just interested in where people post from (this is not really all that relevant either, but irrelevant points of information often mildly interest me).

Well its your thread and you proposed the motion. So you should in fairness have the right to decide a cut off date and I'll second you on whatever cut-off date you decide.

Vera,
Good point. Everyone should tally for themselves in the interest of fairness.

By Verawench on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 - 03:21 pm: Edit

LH,
your neglected imaginary friends don't count.

By Louched_Liver on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 - 03:19 pm: Edit

LH,
I thought you were upset w/us Yanks assuming we are always the majority. Which is pretty much our assumption no matter what the situation. Or how wrongheaded. Just national hubris, I guess. That's what I meant.
I would also like to see a final tally, and was kind of distressed as the thread drifted off into The Weather Channel and Rolling Stone magazine, but that is the way of the Forum. People still seem to chime in at their leisure. A cut off date would be nice though.
Yours in liver disease,
LL

It would help if every forumite would post a reply on this thread (but only post once otherwise it will confuse things).

Me - England

We should let this run for a week or 2 and compile the results of the census.

Louched, I'm not in the least bit pissed off I'm just interested in the makeup of the forum in terms of countries in which posters live (not nationality as in this case many of us could vote several times). Anyway my post was made to Head and Head is not a man/android/bundle of electrons that one can get pissed of with. How can you get pissed of with an on-line persona? Anyway unlike the rest of us Head actually lives in cyberspace and not in a country.

No doubt a majority of forumites live in the USA but I'm not sure whether or not this is an overall majority or not. Whatever the result I have no axe to grind, I'm just curious.

But please everybody, post only once otherwise the purpose of the thread will get fucked up.

Congratulations for having the idea for this thread Louched.

My german boys,

Helium Vola is exquisite. i downloaded the new album some weeks back. "Omnis Mundi Creatura" and "Je chante.."

Yum.

And I've heard DL's generators but haven't seen the vid. Anyone got an ftp / download site for it?

By Aion on Tuesday, November 27, 2001 - 10:53 pm: Edit

I like this new DL song "Generators", but the
video has a cold, clinical, almost antiseptic
appearence. It makes me feel uncomfortable.

Has anybody heard of the new other project of Deine Lakaien mastermind Ernst Horn called
"Helium Vola".

It is the successor to the split up
QNTAL (someone once said here she/he knows and loves QNTAL, Vera, was that you??).

This CD is the perfect autumn/winter soundtrack,
and especially the quiet pieces are of unbelievable beauty.

Well, the temperature's dropped and a neat chill has crept in through the mist.

There is nothing depressing about gray skies. Maybe it has to do with my loathing of the color yellow but it seems to me that it is only now, under a sunless sky, that everything shows its true texture and shade.

They may take away my black frilly shirt for this, but I don't like dark, dreary weather. I'm sitting under a broad-spectrum lamp as we speak trying to make up for the sunlight I miss working the late shift this time of year...

By Heiko on Tuesday, November 27, 2001 - 06:15 am: Edit

I don't think even goths like our weather too much (against all common knowledge the weather that is known to be typical for London is also typical for the south of Germany - without the fog).

I mean, I like the night, I like stormy weather, I love storms and strong wind and maybe even an autumn chill. In short - I love extreme weather.

But this steady, dreary grey/wet/cold combination means: neither dark nor light, only grey; neither rain nor no rain, just wet; neither really cold nor warm but just unfriendly temperature.
This weather is so boring and mediocre, I can't imagine anybody would like it.

Verushka, you must be out of your mind. Even for a Goth, London in November/December has to be the dreariest place on Earth.

Actually, a fog has crept over Houston as well... romantic, but for the lack of autumnal chill and the pollution muck that clings to your windshields and refuses to come off.

I am with you on that Black Jack, late Friday night I had to drive back to the eastern shore of Maryland from Falls Church Virginia and going over the bay bridge was down right scary. I couldn't see the overhead lane lights untill I was like ten feet from them. Last night I drove back from Baltimore (saw the angels of light and they were incredible at this place Fletchers near the harbor) and the fog was bad but not nearly as bad as friday night. I have never seem fog like that on the bridge.

By _Blackjack on Monday, November 26, 2001 - 06:48 pm: Edit

There was the most unbelievable fog here in DC last night. Brits and San Franciscans, feel free to mock me, but there were times driving home when I had to stop dead, because I dould not see the front of my car. Granted, my hood is 10 feet long, but still, it was eerie, like the entire universe had turned white.
