"The makers of this product openly admit to the use of oils and extracts in their website."

Of course, but the use of oils sounds very different from "artificial wormwood".

In my understanding "artificial wormwood" would be no wormwood at all but something made from petrol in a chemistry lab...

"I was able to find an online automated translation service, but the translation was not very clear on if their products where actually made with wormwood, and had mentioned something about "artificial wormwood".."

Sorry, this thread didn't show up in my email.

I don't know which translation service translated "artificial" from what actually means "fresh"...

Tabu is really not bad, the 55% being something like the better Spanish with a note of Bardouin pastis. The 73 is maybe a little too strong in taste, too bitter and too expensive. But it's really strong! One glass and I'm falling asleep, believe me...

I wouldn't recommend Mata Hari - I heard it was something like the Czech stuff.

see 'absinthe forum through december 2001', thread titled 'ooh! nice glass'...keyword search(to the left under utilities) answers alot of questions...

The page that I stumbled across I think was the manufacturer of Tabu and Mata Hari, but I'm not sure, I don't speak German..

I was able to find an online automated translation service, but the translation was not very clear on if their products where actually made with wormwood, and had mentioned something about "artificial wormwood"..
If anyone else wants to check out the site it is

http://www.rauter.de/html/absinth_ii.htm

there was also a list of German mail order shops on their site..
don't know where all they ship to, the whole not speaking German thing again :P

Tabu is in the guide:

http://www.feeverte.net/absinthe-guide5.html#tabu

fyi, I put up an alphabetical index in the guide ... as there were so many brands, and even I couldn't keep track of which section they were in:

Has anyone ever had a brand of absinthe called Tabu or Mata Hari?
