Thank you amigo! But according to Betina, this photo is of an authentic spoon in her possession, NOT the reproduction.

Incidentally, the repros will have "Betina Elixirs" stamped on the underside of the handles, a cue taken from Frenchman Phil.

Huh?

By Drbeer on Monday, February 11, 2002 - 10:21 am: Edit

Woohoo another flaming convention!

By Chevalier on Monday, February 11, 2002 - 10:20 am: Edit

Chrysippvs, have you seen this repro spoon personally, or just a photo? Do you know if a photo of it is on the Internet anywhere? And the retail cost?

Is it obvious that I'm very interested?! Just want make sure that it's worthwhile to buy. Merci beaucoup!

By Chrysippvs on Monday, February 11, 2002 - 10:06 am: Edit

I have good reason to believe it is a frenchman repro...or atleast it has passed through frenchmans hands...

it looks great at any rate....

By Petermarc on Monday, February 11, 2002 - 10:04 am: Edit

haven't seen it, don't know who made it...

By Chevalier on Monday, February 11, 2002 - 10:02 am: Edit

Good question. I've been waiting for someone reputable -- in other words, NOT absinthemania -- to sell repros of the Lautrec spoon. On the other hand, it wouldn't help the high-end antique absinthe spoon collectors at all. What else can explain why Frenchman Phil has never reproduced extremely rare spoons?

Sicboy13, would you please post that jpeg to this thread? Or at least inform us where we can see it?

And if anyone else (Petermarc? Oxygenée?) has seen Betina's repro Lautrec spoon, could he kindly tell us about its quality? Is it worth the price, whatever that is?

By Sicboy13 on Monday, February 11, 2002 - 10:00 am: Edit

i saw a jpeg, it's pretty sweet.

By Wolfgang on Monday, February 11, 2002 - 09:04 am: Edit

Toulouse Lautrec Reproduction Spoons ?

Is it another Frenchman's repro ?

Is it exclusive to Betina ?

By Nolan on Monday, February 11, 2002 - 12:03 am: Edit

Well he may not have fit in, so to speak. But people in the south tend to judge people by the way they act.Not just where they are from.So he may have been well liked and happy while he was here.Or he may have been ostracized.People here were used to Northerners a lot more than people think. They still are. There are a lot of northeners living in my neighborhood. Some are from New Yawk.Mostly from upstate Newyawk tho,I don't know any from NYC.

Nolan

My greatgrandpa was for three years COO of TCI 1889 - 1891 in Birmingham as he was a Radical Republican New Yorker I sort of wonder however he managed to fit in there. In 1891 he started investing in California and from 1895 to 1903 no more ironmaster he had a vineyard and winery there.

By Nolan on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 11:15 pm: Edit

I hope Pittsburg keeps rockin with steel for ever!! Birmingham Al where I am, lost the steel industry pretty much.We still have Sloss furnace but it is just a tourist site and we have some good bands play at the furnace sometimes.A band called Brother Cane cut a video there, other than that it just ain't what it once was. This is sad.
Oh well,shite happens!!

By Pikkle on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 10:59 pm: Edit

I didn't mean to your great LLness... it just happened... steel happens man, it's a great and beautiful thing! Long live Pittsburgh!!!

I am not at all concerned about any posting fees.
I will be happy if these absinthes taste better than oxygenee. But if they don't,oh well,I have payed much more for Scotch that tasted like shite!!

By Pikkle on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 10:35 pm: Edit

Wow... to think I slaved away over hot steel to miss this!

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 10:26 pm: Edit

My vote? You'll be happy. If not, I'll gaurantee a full refund of your posting fees. Every damn penny.

By Nolan on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 10:22 pm: Edit

I have heard that they taste as good or even better than oxygenee.I hope that they do,I think oxy is damned good tasting stuff!! Oxygenee taste's pretty similar to the few vintage absinthe's I have been fortunate to try.So if these are a little better then I will be extremely happy!!

By Nolan on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 10:12 pm: Edit

Well,I just ordered 2 each of the frenchies and 2 of the kubler.I will post again when I get em and give my opinion of em.I have never tried anti wolvies product but it would have to be pretty damn good to be as good as betinas # 3.The # 3 is my favorite absinthe.

"How much would a certain louched person pay for some Deva?"
$0.
Pay me a bit, and I'll drink some though.

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 09:46 pm: Edit

Panavision,

The origin of the "jockey" phrase requires a face to face yack. Tell ya @ Absinthe Orgy NYC.

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 09:42 pm: Edit

Sickwick,
Does that mean you got Deva from Betty? And what, pray tell, did that cost?
C'mon sleepyhead.

By Sicboy13 on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 09:37 pm: Edit

I'll be back (insert Terminator voice here) later on monday to check for my requested info, ttfn, sam.

Jockeyass?

As in small? As in smells like a horse? As in hideously mishapen from being in a saddle for years on end? As in all of the above?

Please, tell me more! It sounds like such a fun insult!

I stayed awake for this?

By Sicboy13 on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 09:24 pm: Edit

You're keeping me up, I hope your happy. I no sooner post then think up another nugget of joy. How much would a certain louched person pay for some Deva?, I never said I didnt like the Deva I got, only from whom I purchased it.

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 09:21 pm: Edit

Sic,

Night, night, pal. If the ass fits, wear it.

By Sicboy13 on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 09:21 pm: Edit

P.S. I smell an inferiority complex, because you called Betty the queen, not me. Toodles.

By Sicboy13 on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 09:19 pm: Edit

Hey fella, I'm off to bed, my job requires me to sleep it off before I come in. Good nite. And "jockey ass" what the fuck is that? Ta Ta for now, Sam.

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 09:17 pm: Edit

Thought so. Jockeyass.

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 09:07 pm: Edit

Yoo hoo, Siccy! RSVP.

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 08:58 pm: Edit

Siccy,

So, since Betty's stuff was better than Deva and
"some czech crap", she is the queen? W/out trying Wolvie's stuff? Or Jade, which I have. I've tried Betty's #3, and I think that Wolvie's is better. I'm comparing 2 things to each other. And picking the one I like best.
And buy your own since you are too far away to share my stash. Or, get your ass up and out and come here, and I'll be the host w/the most.

By Sicboy13 on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 08:49 pm: Edit

No, Deva, Betty's La Bleue #1, & some czech crap, that's about it. I am not out to pimp any certain dealer's product, I only follow the best of three rule, and betty has been that for me. If you want to send me some free absinthe, though, I'll leave that up to you. Much love, Sam.

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 08:44 pm: Edit

"Inferiority" issue- 1)Taste 2)Taste 3)Cost.

That about covers it. I've tried Betty's #3, have you tried Wolvie's Green and LaBleue?

By Sicboy13 on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 08:41 pm: Edit

Please elaborate on the "inferiority" issue.

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 08:37 pm: Edit

Corn Flakes=breakfast=yuck=least important meal of the day.

If you want to pay 2.4 X what Wolvie charges for an inferior (in my opinion) product, Betty bless you. I ain't worried about customs issues. Just value for the money issues. As far as the other stuff for sale, I'd rather deal w/forumites and get the stuff that way than tack on a 300% tariff to Betty.
Wolvie has been hassle free, and the reviews have been stellar. Buy what ya want, it's your $$.

Love and hugs,
Mike

By Sicboy13 on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 08:26 pm: Edit

just want to know who pissed in your corn flakes Bill W.

By Sicboy13 on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 08:25 pm: Edit

Until I can grow absinthe on my windowsill, I will buy good absinthe from a reputed person with no hassels, o.k.?

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 08:24 pm: Edit

My "deal" on what subject exactly Sicco?

By Sicboy13 on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 08:21 pm: Edit

what's your deal louched lush?

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 08:16 pm: Edit

Sickfuck,

Lemme see your wallet.
Yep, you're a Betty bopper.

By Sicboy13 on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 08:13 pm: Edit

Huzzah! Good to see ya Betty.

By Louched_Liver on Sunday, February 10, 2002 - 07:32 pm: Edit
