Wow. I wondered what happened to that project. I tried to contact that guy years ago. Right after my first Absinthe experience and before I even knew about this forum. Thanks for the update.

Does anyone besides Kallisti and me remember "Speed & Absinthe"? An indie film featuring George Plimpton, of all people. Had its own website, looked for backers and promotion. Plot:
Absinthe takes Max (or is it Ted?) out of the Ivy League and into a world of New Orleans gangsters, Santeria and a beatific muse, Casey. He wants to open a salon and launch a new generation of Van Goghs, but hubris brings him down.
Vanished without a trace. Website disappeared. What happened?
Here's an update of sorts: the script, written by L.A. resident Ethan Prochnik, was a semi-finalist in the 2001 American Film Institute Screenwriting Competition.
The film, however, is still missing. Probably collapsed under the weight of its own pretentiousness.
