I have to give credit to a very clever, crafty lady-friend on this one. She discoverd a line of water goblets from the 40's and 50's which look an awful lot like egg glasses, and which can be found on eBay by the armload for very little. They were made by Anchor Hawking, and are called, variously, "bubble" or "boopie" gobles. Here's an example:

but there are tons of them to be had, for a couple of bucks each. Do a search on "boopie goblet" and "bubble goblet" and you'll find 'em.
