The Fée Verte Absinthe Forum - The Oldest, Largest, Most Authoritative Absinthe Forum. _ The Entrance Hall _ Greetings from Sweden

Hi and hello to all of you! abs-cheers.gif

My name is Seth and I'm Swedish, living in the southern part of that country in a town called Mariestad. Originally I'm from the most southern part of Sweden though (from Scania). I was born in 1966 and I'm (now) somewhat familiar with absinthe, due to me being a member on a competing absinthe forum blink.gif and I've tried some different absinthes. Until now I've tested 17 different brands (including two lousy crap(sinths)) but I'm of course yearning for more. Favourites so far is Duplais Balance followed by Mansinthe and Soixante-Cinq.

(If you go to my web page, from my user profile here perhaps, I'm sorry to say that it's only in Swedish.)

Edit:
A little more personal info perhaps?
Beside absinthe I enjoy cyberpunk culture (mainly), some alpine skiing and movies. I'm single and I work part time at an archive for sheet music, principally serving their computers, database and web page.

Since "uppriktig" means sincere I certainly hope so. wink.gif
Well. Actually it's just the first letter in my last name.

Welcome to FV, Seth. (Hopefully you're not disappointed by my pedestrian English.)

Duplais Balance and Mansinthe are perfectly serviceable introductions into commercial absinthe. Admittedly, I had to look up Soixante-Cinq, and while I've never particularly enjoyed Paul Devoille absinthes on the whole, it sounds as if you're enjoying it and that's what counts most.

What's your chosen flavor of cyberpunk? Are you a fan of the dark, esoteric and overly-caffeinated William Gibson, the faster-paced and less philosophical Neal Stephenson, or some other weaver of digital dreams?

No worries about "pedestrian English". Being a swede myself I guess my English isn't really top notch, neither writing nor understanding (at least understanding the finer nuances and or reading between the lines).

I guess most real absintheurs would place Soixante-Cinq in the middle of the top range so to say, and personally I find (or at least have found) e.g. Nouvelle-Orléans and St. Antoine just a tad too flowery or even somewhat "perfume"-like. But I suspect that my taste buds and palate is still developing?

In cyberpunk literature I'm certainly a fan of William Gibson, mostly because of his, as you describe it, dark and esoteric themes or kind of backdrops. Otherwise it's mostly movies like Blade Runner (especially) and the first (!) Matrix, but also anime like Ghost in the Shell and Akira that've caught my attention. But I would personally almost describe the Russian classic Stalker (by Tarkovsky) as a kind of cyberpunk movie too.

Thanx, absinthion.
(Where are you from, by the way?)

I don't know about "taking over" but I think that good absinthe is hopefully underway in Scandinavia and that we are at least a few here.

Copenhagen. We are not many but quite dedicated absintheurs in the Copenhagen area.

Nice. And I hope that you dedicated absintheurs in and around Copenhagen are in growing numbers too.
