Okay, this has been happening for long enough now that I thought someone would have mentioned it by now, but not, so I'll bite.

Why, when switching back and forth between pages here, do I get a message that "I have chosen to download (some file - I think it's palette.html)" It wants me to choose between opening the file and saving it (Firefox). I don't even know what it is, so I don't want to do either, and it doesn't seem like rational behavior on the part of the website. This never used to happen, and I don't think I've changed anything in Firefox that would make it start.

Have had the same when I came back after disk crash, so far, everything is ol korekt, I was trying also logging in and out-it helped a bit.

Was happening to me a while back. Seemed to have been dependent on what link I was using. For a while I couldn't get into the Buyer's Guide at all if I was already on here, but I could if I did a search from my browser and followed the link.

I had this problem a couple of times when I was using my girlfriend's Mac.

The browser doesn't recognize the palette's HTML header that should indicate the MIME type (it's probably a corrupted copy from server cache, or somehow non-compliant with standards). You can just choose to view it if you trust the site wink.gif.

I trust it well enough.

I guess my thinking was that action seems to be required on the website end, regardless of my own choice.

Have you tried another browser? Is there an update available for the browser you're using? I guess not many other people are noticing such a problem. At least I haven't noticed it. Using Safari 2.x on Mac OS X 10.4.x.

Posted by: Artemis Sep 12 2007, 10:55 PM

I'm using the same browser, same version, I've been using here for probably a year. Maybe a lot longer.

I have not changed the browser.

I have not changed settings in the browser.

This palette thing started happening within the past 30 days or so.

I think it's reasonable to conclude from these facts that something changed at this website, to make that thing start happening, and that I shouldn't have to do ANYTHING on my end to make it stop happening. This is validated by the fact that many other people reported the same thing at the same time, and they probably didn't suddenly fuck their browsers up, either.

With that said, no, I am not using the most recent version of Firefox. I don't change software because there's a new version available. I don't flash my BIOS just for shits and giggles, either.

It's not that big a deal.

Maybe there was a recent IPB update? I know I just updated my forum today, and I was about 45 days late in doing so.

Posted by: G&C Sep 12 2007, 11:20 PM

It was also happening to me every time I tried to post.
It stopped about a week ago, as suddenly as it began.

Using Firefox on a PC.

I don't remember if it happened using my Mac.

Posted by: Head_prosthesis Sep 13 2007, 01:54 AM

As far as I know we haven't changed anything
here or had any IPB updates. Over the last few days
I have tried to replicate the problem you are describing
but have not succeeded. I have tried to look for an answer
online but I haven't come up with anything.

What I have been able to do, amounts to squat.
When I can, I like to help.

Thanks, Head.

I don't think it happened yesterday.

It hasn't happened so far today.

Another strange thing is that when I try to go from here to Lounge, the Lounge will not load - I have to shut down Firefox and start over. But that's probably just karma catching up to me ...........

Posted by: Artemis Nov 2 2007, 10:29 PM

Today I'm getting:

IPB WARNING [2] implode(): Bad arguments. (Line: 455 of /sources/action_public/login.php)

which is apparently related to the fact that automatic login (password is saved in Firefox) isn't working. Also, for a long time now, FV seems to have braked the Lounge. Firefox will not go from FV to the Lounge for me. I have to shut it down and start a new session ....

Posted by: The Standard Deviant Nov 3 2007, 02:20 AM

It says quite clearly that the forum has imploded due to bad arguments.
