I have searched this sites referance material to see what the relationship between absinthe and olive oil actually is but I cant find anything.

I see sites like spiritscorner and a few others offer packages with a bottle of absinthe and a bottle of good olive oil.

Is the oil simply something to add to the absinthe? I have never seen it mentioned in any traditional preperation methods.

I am curious to know what the relationship is. Please enlighten me on this subject. Thanks.

It has nothing to do with Absinthe. It's added for completely different reason...

like in 'Absinthe- A Myth AlwaysGreen" cooking with Absinthe is also mentioned so... : when the La Blanche arrives from Markus I will go for a wild cooking adventure!

maybe some pancakes made in olive oil and a mixture with some La Blanche?

I hope I don't end up like this ~~~> Frankenstein.gif

I didn't think that I really liked this thread. Reminded me of a thread at the Louche Lounge where somebody was posting details about the package labelling for a bottle of Moonman.

Here's a little twist on the theme. A glass that I ordered from Spirits Corner came packaged in cardboard from the side of a case of Pernod. The labelling was of course on the inside but it seemed ironic that the packaging was a bit "naughty" for an otherwise legit item.

Ignore all them. They sell olive oil because it's healthier for you than butter when making oysters Rockefeller.

The olive smell throws off the drug-sniffing dogs at Customs.

Um ... olive oil is quite UNHEALTHY if you use the stuff as a cooking oil (for oysters or anything else). In other words, avoid heating it.
