QUOTE (hartsmar @ Mar 1 2005, 01:15 AM)
That is probably a limit set on database connections or something.

I think there is a bug in the way Invision and mySQL work with the site. A particular file (sessions.php) isn't being reset as it should.

My Invision board did the exact same error ALL the time, and like this board, it was no where near active enough to really be creating that kind of error, so I knew something was fishy.

After I upgraded to Invision 2.0.x, I never saw the error again.

lol It's too bad IPS charges for their stuff now - everyone should pitch in $5 towards getting 2.0.x biggrin.gif

We're considering upgrading to IPB Ver 2.0 at the moment. The chief concern is the amount of work involved in converting the skin, for what will only be a marginal improvement.

Of course, anyone with existing experience in converting IPB Ver 1.3 skins to Ver 2.0, and who would like to tackle this as a labour of love, would of course not only have my undying gratitude, but might well receive a few intriguing samples in the mail...

I haven't used anything but Firefox for six months or more, and I never even noticed whatever people are complaining about.

Oh geezus kay-ryst....I have serious hate relationship with FF. It's caused me more unnecessary coding hassles than I can count. Tables, text fields, scroll bars...you name it. There's always a problem with FF. IE is so much more forgiving. If it finds code it doesn't necessarily know what to do with, it's intelligent enough to make a decision. FF absolutely will not. WYSIWYG, even if it looks like complete hell. Users don't know what webmasters have to go through to please that POS, sometimes.

I'd gladly do the conversion biggrin.gif

I do graphic/web design as my job, and run an Invision board myself which I've converted from 1.3 to 2, so I have experience with its skinning system and wouldn't mind doing it at all.

hehe..I actually prefer FF. It understands code EXACTLY as the code is meant to be. It is CSS compliant (whereas IE isn't), and supports standards. With IE, you have to use unsupported hacks and work arounds to get things to work right. IE is much, much behind in being standards compliant.
Not to mention, FF supports PNG transparency.

Many sites have to use 2 different style sheets, 1 correct one, and one full of unsupported tweaks. The correct one works in FF, Safari, Opera, etc, and the other one is specifically for IE.

I understand the pain involved in making things cross-browser compatiable, but in contrast, I find IE to be the nitwit causing all the trouble.

Do you know how much nicer this place would be if we had the "Ignore" feature from 2.0??

Poof! No more troll. I love it.

Yeah... but I'd have to PM everyone to ask them stuff.

I believe it ignores PM's also.

I could be incorrect.

Heh... I don't even know WTF you're talking about. I never noticed any girl in any lozenge.

I would definitely use an "ignore" feature, but I know I would miss a lot of stuff.

What would you miss?

2.0 only adds more features; I can't think of one that it takes away.

All the topics/replies/posts would remain exactly as they are now as well.

Ohh. Well in that case, no posts would be lost at all. Everything that's here now would still be here w00t2.gif
