Another thing I don't like is when posting, if you insert a tag, it throws the tag in at the end of whatever text is already entered. It would be nice to be able to highlight text and have the tag applied to said text, the way it works at Oxy's forum.

I didn't start having that problem until I switched to Mac.

Like the above poster, I too only notice that on a Mac.

What browser are you using?

If you're using FireFox, there is an extension you can download that will allow you to highlight any text and apply bbCode to it.

So you could, for example, highlight the URL to an image, right-click it, then click "IMG" and it would add the correct image tags to the front and back of the url.

If you want, I can get the link to it.

But if you aren't using FireFox, that's a different story...

(I'm quite the FireFox fan if you haven't noticed wink.gif )

I use Firefox, and as I said before, it works fine at Oxy's board, and if I remember correctly, at WWS as well. That tells me it's something inherent at this website, and not a deficiency in the browser.

If I remember correctly, Invision 1.3 (and maybe 2.0, too) does not add code to highlighted text.

It's probably the forum software and just how it behaves, rather than something wrong.

Check out this link:
FF Extension

I use it all the time, and it works on all forum software.

What software does Oxy's board run on? I know VBulletin lets you highlight stuff and click buttons to add BBCode, but I don't believe Invision does.

It's a bit tacky to have an advertising banner as your signature, IMHO. No offense intended, but you should consider this.

Our opinions differ. :)

It's not so much advertising as it is an identifier of my posts. Makes it look different from other posts. And I'd rather not have some abstract quote as 90% of members here do, as that would defeat my purpose of uniqueness, so it's about all I have to put there.

My target market isn't absinthe enthusiasts or casual forum visitors, so you're safe.

It's still tacky. I think most here would agree.

That's all fine and proper...

But all things considered, I am not here to please anyone.

If a signature bothers you, it seems that's your problem to try and work out - not mine to solve.

Anybody that uses an advertisement as a signature is rude.

You could use your skills to create a unique non-advertisement banner to make yourself stand out. An avatar would be a first step towards individuality. Solicitation is generally frowned upon here.
