Good question. I mentioned something about it to Boggy back when he sent me the bottle, and IIRC he said he'd talk to Phil. But I may not be RC, and either way he never said anything about it again.

I was not RC. He did say something, I just didn't retain the information for some reason. Regardless, 70cl bottles of Boggy are under strong consideration, which will remain in production without further changes or modern compromises, as will Żubrsinthe. Also, a special edition Boggy #4 is in the works, aged in oak barrels, featuring all Polish artemisias and the finest Pontica. About all of this, time will tell.

Might as well get some Bairnsfodder while you're at it.

Absinthe de la Cascade
53% ABV Swiss la bleue from Môtiers. From the label: Absinthe du Val-de-Travers Distillerie des Petits-Prés Absinthe distillée de façon artisanale de père et fils, clandestinement depuis 1935, et légalement depuis 2006. Absinthe wird artisanale gebraut, das vom Vater auf seinen Sohn übertragen wurde, das Rezept besteht seid 1935 und war nicht erlaubt. Aber seid 2006 wurde es wieder zugelassen. L' Incomparable Composition: Alcool, absinthe et plantes aromatiques. Zusammensetzang: Alcohol, Absinth und aromatische Pflanzen. Distillerie des Petit Prés Michel Paillard Rue des Petits-Prés 4 CH-2112 Môtiers (telephone number) Reviewed by Bruno Rygseck 12/22/2012 COLOR BEFORE WATER 10/10 Clear. LOUCHE ACTION 7/10 Instant and thick, maybe starting too early; turbulent when pouring a thin stream of water from the pitcher. Quite satisfactory although not spectacular. COLOR AFTER WATER 7/10 Opaque white, slightly gray, no bleue-effects in incandescent light but good looking still. AROMA 24/30 Before water: Herbal and flowery. After water: Herbaceous after water also. Emits delightful aromas while water is being poured, not in room-filling quantities though. MOUTH-FEEL 8/10 Silky, nice; not so much tingling of the tongue. TASTE 15/20 Juicy long-lasting taste, moderate anise sweetness. If badiane is present it does not disturb. OVERALL IMPRESSION 8/10 Very good for a la bleue absinthe. Bruno Rygseck scores Absinthe de la Cascade 79 out of 100 -------------------- På detta dricka vi åtskilliga glas portvin.

void absinthe
Tried it at the absinthe bar at the Sage restaurant inside the Aria hotel in Las Vegas. I ended up buying a bottle directly from them and am very happy with it. The bottle is small i think it says 375ml on the bottom but a little goes a long way it seems. EDIT: Forgot to put the website I got it at: www.voidabsinthe.com! Reviewed by TheGreatDestroyer 1/12/2013 COLOR BEFORE WATER 10/10 The colour is a rich medium/turquoise green, definitely no artificial colouring. Very clear with no sediments in it. LOUCHE ACTION 10/10 The louche was probably the most dramatic I've ever seen. I use a very slow dripper and each drip into the absinthe caused a whirlwind of oil throughout and at the bottom the louche appeared to "explode" into little opaque "flames", this continued until the glass became half full, the glass became half-way completely opaque with the oils sitting on top of the louche, still swirling. By the end, the glass was opaque like milk with hints of very light green bands until it was stirred. COLOR AFTER WATER 10/10 As I said in the louche-action section, the colour afterwards was 100% opaque white with some very subtle traces of light green bands before being stirred, the oils were visible on top of the louche. I suspect I could have added 7:1 radio of water before thinning even began to occur. AROMA 25/30 The aroma was very pleasing and smelled as one would expect. I did not smell "alcohol heat" or anything strange as I have from some of the shelf-absinthes even though the alcohol rating on this is 80% abv/160 proof. I only counted this down to a 25 because on the horizon of the aroma, you can smell the faint scent of chocolate, which is not traditional by any means. It smelled great, I wont lie, but I figured true absinthe connoisseurs with a penchant for the traditional absinthes would discount this as well. MOUTH-FEEL 10/10 It was like heaven. Milky opaqueness, thick and creamy. An absinthe you truly want to just hold in your mouth and sip slowly. <3 TASTE 20/20 The taste is like no other absinthe I've had (and I've had MANY). It is representative of what a true absinthe should be, simple and balanced. The creamy blend was not overpowering of anise and had notes of chocolate, mint, and of course you can taste the faintness of wormwood. Extremely delicious. OVERALL IMPRESSION 10/10 When I was in Vegas, I had two glasses despite the $35.00/ea price tag. My wife and I had four glasses of it here at home as soon as it arrived. I have already contacted them for more. Simply amazing, I have retired my old favorites and now when I taste shelf-absinthe here in the US, I recoil at the taste, flat and weak with a lack of louche. To me, there is no superior. I've been drinking absinthe for about 6 years, and I can honestly tell you, this is the best in my opinion. PERSONAL NOTES I first had it at the the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas in the Sage restaurant, they said they were demoing it and it was not on the menu but sitting on the little table. If you have the chance, pick this one up! TheGreatDestroyer scores void absinthe 95 out of 100 http://www.redtube.com/318880 |

Hmmm... From the website;
QUOTE VOID is not your great-grandfathers absinthe. It does not pretend to be French or Swiss. It is based on the original pre-ban recipe Based on "the original pre-ban recipe" yet doesn't "pretend to be French or Swiss"? And what's with the stupid skull and bones above the Terminator style logo!? Massive score there though. Full points for almost everything. Amazing. -------------------- Efficient but deadly
