According to http://www.absintheonline.com/
"The Distillerie Paul Devoille is located in Fougerolles, Haut Saone in North East France, close to the Alsace region. It was founded in 1859 by Xavier Devoille, the father of Paul, and is considered one of the top 10 distilleries in France for fruit eau-de-vie. It was purchased in 1985 by René de Miscault and is now run by his son, Hugues.
When Hugues de Miscault decided to bring the distillery back into the 'absinthe age,' he chose to follow a modified recipe from the anti-, pre-prohibition year of 1914 that used only petite absinthe. The distillery also had since 1925 a history of pastis-making, with their house brand 'Baranis,' and these skills and techniques were transferred to their new "spiritueux aux plantes d'absinthe" 'Libertine.' The absinthe community took notice when it received third place in the first tasting of the Pontarlier Absinthiades in 2002. An excellent product, but at 55° alcohol, containing only petite absinthe, with no grande absinthe and with added sugar, it was not exactly what Liqueurs de France was looking for."
AVERAGE SCORE 57

COLOR BEFORE WATER 6/10
Clear yellow. Natural looking, not very intense.
LOUCHE ACTION 8/10
COLOR AFTER WATER 7/10
More greenish; fairly complex and beautiful. Could be a bit more opaque.
Sweet, fresh anise, but very weak and not that complex.
Pleasant enough, but somehow thin.
Discrete, quite pleasant, but one-dimensional bitterness. A sweet anise taste balances it, but doesn't contribute much apart from that.
OVERALL IMPRESSION 5/10
Refreshing, pleasant enough, but lacks complexity.
Gertz scores Libertine 57 out of 100.
