My feeling is that we need to tighten up a little on signature lines, in order to improve the general readability of the Forum. Over-long or over-prominent signatures are distracting, and, with repetition, tedious and boring.

I propose the following:

1. Signatures to be brief - 3 or 4 lines at most. Some may feel that this is especially targeted at Fredie. Some would be right.

2. No images and especially no animated gifs to be allowed. A single exception to be made for Lord Stanley whose Bouncing Titties Fairy I feel curiously sentimental about.

3. No clickable website links to be allowed. The place to list your website, blog or homepage is in your profile, not in your sig line. Kirk's links to his grilles to be grandfathered in, but it's hard to think of another equally deserving case.

I may have to shrink mine a bit.

The only thing I'm adamant about is no images (except for the bouncing fairy of course). On a slow connection they can be quite a pain. This forum isn't too bad, but I've been on some where people had 640x480 2mb gif animations in their sig. Annoying as hell when the browser pauses to load the sig instead of the posts.
