From http://www.fruko.cz: Absinth is produced according to the traditional French distillation techniques that decend from the time of Napoleon. Absinth is a herbbased spirit with a slightly bitter taste. [...cut out well known history blurb...] In the Czech Republic, we have improved the old production technology and while still upholding the strict EU regulations concerning the components of Absinth and the control of chop.gif (an extract of wormwood), FRUKO-SCHULZ 's ABSINTH complies fully with current legislation whilst allowing the drinker to taste the full Absinth effect.

COLOR BEFORE WATER 2/10
Mouthwash green - “It looks like it should be mint-flavored,” said my friend's wife.

LOUCHE ACTION 0/10
None whatsoever. It made me wonder what gave it any anise aroma at all.

COLOR AFTER WATER 1/10
Identical to color before water.

AROMA 7/30
The first whiff out of the bottle wasn’t bad. There was a distinct anise scent. After pouring, though, a medicinal mouthwash scent dominated.

MOUTH-FEEL 3/10
This was difficult to judge because - since it tasted so terrible - I had to fight the reflex to get it out of my mouth as quickly as possible. There was some pleasant tongue-tingling, though.

TASTE 4/20
Bitter and medicinal. That first whiff of anise was long gone - perhaps it had floated up to the top of the bottle and evaporated upon opening? Is that possible?

OVERALL IMPRESSION 1/10
I had heard the phrase “Czech swill,” but I never knew what it meant until now; now the words are seared on my tongue - almost literally.

PERSONAL NOTES
After one small glass, I switched to some Bulgarian meztika, which was vastly superior. My friend continued drinking the absinth, and claimed later that it made him feel a little bit different than his usual alcohol. Since I had so little, I can neither confirm nor deny this; nor am I willing to subject myself to it again in order to test his claim.

COLOR BEFORE WATER 1/10
It would be better if it had a clear color instead of this bluish one (E133/E102). This producer has also red and black color variations of this product. So… they just change the „E” colorants… Oh my…

LOUCHE ACTION 0/10
No Louche.

COLOR AFTER WATER 1/10
Water with bluish color. Unpleasant.

AROMA 5/30
Sweet candy mint, something like fennel and wormwood scent. It seems like there is cheap spirit mixed with cheap herbal essences. Flavor doesn’t fill the room, just stays in a bottle.

MOUTH-FEEL 3/10
A little numbing on a tongue tip. Cold breath, like after mint chewing gum.

TASTE 4/20
Undrinkable! Nothing natural and herbal in it, just cheep spirit and essences. Also there is sugar added.

OVERALL IMPRESSION 3/10
It’s just waste of money and health! It is not Absinthe, it is just Absinth. This drink reminds me every time of a mouthwash or tooth paste. The only reason I’ve put 3 points here, because this was the first absinthe I have tasted and it hasn’t ruined my image of the real legendary drink, and has made me to continue my absinthe experience, but please - if you want to try real absinthe, or just good alcohol beverage don’t buy this one!

PERSONAL NOTES
I have made this review only after I have tasted a real (distillated) absinthe.
