For those poor souls who don't get the monthly VAM Newsletter, here's a link to the new Herbsaint section at the Virtual Museum, which showcases the extraordinary collection of bottles, documents and memorabilia assembled by Thegreenimp. Jay's work in this field is absolutely remarkable, and there's lots here which has never been made public before, and which significantly expands our understanding not just of Herbsaint, but of the early history of absinthe in the US.

It's post-ban, so it isn't bitter.

Vintage Herbsaint was quite tasty indeed, very floral and complex. Modern Herbsaint is little better than pastis (maybe worse, it's been a while since I tried it).

Well lets put it this way. About four years ago I bought two bottles, one is still unopened and the other nearly full.

Vintage Herbsaint was nicely balanced, and shared a number of traits with a nice vintage absinthe. Like that oft mentioned baby powder scent.

The modern version of Herbsaint, is better suited for use as a mixing ingredient in cocktails like a Sazerac.

Worse than Bardouin, or Muse Verte, butt nearly on par with most others.
