I guess I'll cancel my search of liquor stores for the stuff, and just be content reading the web site and imagining the "what if" of it all. absintheglass-glow2.gif

I bought a bottle at the liquor store a couple of months ago. I only drank 3 or 4 glasses before I just sinked the rest of the bottle. It was just unpleasant.

I have a small mini bottle from the 30's. Can it be prepared just like absinthe? Adding water till the clear layer on top goes away? I've been wanting to taste it but just haven't known how to prepare it. I know the Frappe was the most popular but I want to really taste this one - I've got one shot at it.

Considering that a common remedy back then was a shot of ammonia in a coke, that sounds like a beter alternative but I can't see wasting absinthe on such a thing.

A few drops of Pastis or Pernod at the bottom of a glass that you fill with Coca-Cola, btw., makes for a really nice summer drink.

Are there any images of the label when it still said "Legendre Absinthe"?

The label was similiar, with just a change in one word.
