Glass of Eddy last night, as an aperitif. Smooth, creamy, subtle, fragrant. Wonderful aftertaste, which lingered all night, after supper, after a pint of Hophead; and again this morning. I can still remember it as I now drink my Rosehip and Hibiscus morning tea.

I wasn't gob-smacked by it though; but, if I had never tasted real absinthe, I would have been.

It has improved since opening, I think.

Well, either the quality of the ingredients is not what it used to be in terms of the chlorophyll it imparts…
OR
aging in a solera system can do that, since it's plausible some of the absinthe that contributed to that color is 3 years old.

Out of curiosity what is the date on your bottle? That doesn't mean that's how old the absinthe is, it only means that was when it was bottled. FWIW Feuille Morte is not an undesirable color in an absinthe, I think the problem is we were all used the eye-popping color Edouard had when it was new.

That's what I was thinking too. Maybe the bottles have been aging.

Last night, glass of Eddy, then a glass of Balance.

Hmmm I like Balance when I drink it alone, but after Eddy it didn't seem so good.

I'll try them the other way round next time, and see if I came to the same conclusion that Eddy compares better.

I'm pissed enough to finally email them about my order. The color of my eddy is pure piss, I think it's bullshit. Another thing that totally pissed me off about my order was the verte label was half ass thrown on all bunched up and not on correctly. What kind of half ass products they have coming out of there now.

So now they think they can still charge top dollar but now they can just half ass it as well.

I got a reply like sorry blah blah, we'll pass it on to the producer…

How bout a here's a discount code for our sorry ass attempt at an order. Really annoys the crap out of me. I mean seriously look at the pic above again. I opened it finally in front of 4 other friends. First thing out of their noobish mouths.." I thought it was supposed to be green". Yet here I been going on about the whole time how it was supposed to be the top or at the very least very near the top in today's absinthe.

I guess one of the two problems alone would be ok. Sure absinthe can change or not come out exact every time(although I think it should for that kind of money). But to be so F'ing lazy and not even bother putting labels on correctly is just down right not giving two shits about us.

Maybe I'm over reacting lol but the more I think about it the more it's pissing me off.

I thought we already decided that the reason the color was light was because the bottle was a year old. That's not unexpected. Many bottles I have that started out very bright and clear become lighter as they age, even in perfect conditions.

Feuille morte is not light. and in the pic hdtv00 posted, there is no feuille morte, either.

I guess one could call it "absinthe", if the name is more important than what it tastes like. ~DD

Not at all. But since I didn't see a counterargument to what Donnie had put forth, it seemed like a consensus had been reached.
