Someone from the French forum (Libellule70) is doing some researches about distilleries in the Fougerolles region.
And while searching from Emile Ferdinand Pernot (born in Luxeuil, near Fougerolles), he found his birth and marriage certificates. Just wanted to share because they're lovely documents: April 29th 1855:  September 19th 1883, he was 28:  EF pernot was a miller in Luxeuil, so why he moved with his wife to Pontarlier to become a distiller is a mystery for now, but Libellule70 may find out from his further researches. Fougerolles and its region was THE place for Kirsch in the 19th century, and as you can see from this card, absinthe was at the second place:   |

Thank you for posting these documents and the information, Marc. Do you happen to know if EP absinthe was at all representative of the "Fougerolles-style" mentioned in the Duplais manual? I realize that those styles are now considered to be suspect as ever having been clearly defined categories, but I'm curious to know if you've come across any relevant information.
