Kirk and I just met up. We're drinking Blues Cat and headed to the airport.

Is that a euphemism of some sort?

Or did you meet up at the convention? The one that just ended. In Montana. And now you're headed back home.

Damn it. You gotta be fucking kidding me.

Happy trails.

Apparently, if you give Kirk Bourbon he is invisible to State Police.

I was moving so fast they couldn't see me, 120 miles an hour through the desert mountains.
It was fun to watch Grim talk his way on.
"We stop issuing boarding passes one hour before departure"
"I spoke to someone who said that was not written in stone"
Well okay, since you have no baggage, carrion?"
"No". . . '
not exactly."

My flight is late, and I have a short connection at Heathrow. Fingers crossed.

Come by Claude-Alain's distillery in Couvet on Friday afternoon.

Sounds good! I plan on driving through Pontarlier on Friday, too.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the Distillery. We should have the webcam going as usual so those who can't make it can see what they are missing.

Happy trails.

Funny thing was I was near the convention and had time to kill but never considered it.
Went to see my sister in law's new house in Estes Park Co, checked out Rocky M.P. and then wandered through Moab looking for petroglyphs, down through Arches park, spent a couple nights in the Grand Canyon then through the petrified forest and off to see Grim off, all the while keeping to gem trails, stopping in the appropriate places to hike in and scout for turquoise, agate, opal and jasper. If you've seen Lucy in "The Long, Long trailer" you might get the idea.
Right now I'm in Amarillo, heading east and sick of rock hounding, hoping to find amusement on RT 66 all the way home.

Looks like a very kool trip. Long ago one of my best friends lived in Estes Park for a spell. Amazing place. But I've never been to any of those other places. Seems I know more foreigners with more experience in US National Parks than I do Amerikans, so I tip my hat to you. Too many people never bother with the wonders in their own back yard.

As for the convention, I'm not surprised you skipped it. It didn't sound like it was going to be the kind with any naked dancing girls. What's a convention without at least one naked dancing girl? Just a bunch of people trying to sell you stuff.

And then there's the tent-party in Boveresse…

Their loss. Certainly not yours.

Looks like a great adventure. The Southwest is stunningly beautiful.
