The most vitriolic, out of control flame war of the Forum's Wild West era was...?

Nominations and links here please (flame wars starring the much missed Don Walsh, like this one, have a thread all of their own).

The Anatomist and I mixed it up regularly. We even had a thread dedicated to it: the ARENA (I'll edit this later to include a link).

I still think he's a dickhead. Which is exactly what Artemis suspected halfway through that thread--that Anatomist and I had created ill will between us that would last.

I also fought quite a bit with Vera****, I mean Verawench. What was she, 15 (seriously--wasn't she actually a high school kiddie)? I couldn't stand her unicorns-and-ponies, woe-is-me bullshit. I taught high school already, so I didn't suffer her shite too well.

Links! We need links!

Back before I got suspended the first time (name then was robertsmith) there was a lot of shit flung between Marc Campbell, Artemis and I. I was somewhat of a moron in those days, basically thought the point of internet forums was to go online and fuck with people. But none of that compared to The Don Wars. He probably holds the record for internet death threats. If his name was attached to a thread, you could probably find a few hand grenades thrown in there somewhere. But he was still brilliant.

Can you find and post a link to the thread that got you suspended?

We'd like to laugh both with you, and at you.

Sounds like you should name this thread "Hall of Flame."

Going back and reading the ARENA last night, I realized a few things. First is that I am much less viriolic than before, although Anatomist was definitely fuel on that fire. Secondly, I spent too much time here. Finally, I think I was smarter then and a much better writer. Makes me feel stoopider now.

Remember that these threads' posts are in reverese chron. order, as Oxy pointed out, so start at the bottom and read up.

Part 1 of the Arena

Part 2

Basically, it's all religion and politics. And very little real discussion. Lots of words, though. I think one of my better soundbites was

Or, perhaps, "among Marc Campbell, Artemis, and myself", would be a more grammatically sound.

Damn, there I go, being a fedantic puckwad, just because I'm so jealous of all those grand times you guys had in those halcyon days.

My apologies, Mr. Darko. biggrin.gif

I searched and sadly can't find anything specific. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the result of one specific thread, but more just some influential veterans asking for me to get the boot privately because I was being an asshole in general (though some I sparred with even came to my defense). And for some reason everybody thought I was best friends with Larsbogart, and apparently he said some absolutely horrid things to Kallisti in private, so I got 86ed by association.

That's all water under the bridge now though. Now I'm only an asshole 50% of the time rather than 90% of the time.

Ouch, that's a little harsh, and if I may so so, ungentlemanly, Bob. Verawench is still a member, and still occasionally drops in. Her blog Emerald Quest has some great trip reports originally extracted from posts here at Fee Verte, especially Peter's account of his visit to the Segarra distillery "The Man from Chert".

You can see her personal webpage here. I've just seen that, amazingly, she's moved to the UK, and now lives less than 30 miles from me. Will try and get together sometime, and will pass on your kind regards... harhar.gif

Yeah, I know. I apologize. I feel bad about that. When I recently posted about her, I had been reading too much archives and my old animosity got the better of me.
