Get ready for it!
absinthist
Knowin' you, Socky, you have already polished une bouteille off. How it was?

Of course, soon some will start claimin' that as Dr Ordinaire wass Santa Claus, his pony must be reindeer; IMO very nice and traditional label.

That is also very nice to hear:
QUOTE
Like all natural chlorophyllic colorations it will gradually fade to a so-called feuille morte hue over time.
Marc
No bottle yet, it wasn't bottled yet during the Absinthiades.
But what we tasted was very good and different from the first 1797 batch.
Conte d'Ugenta
There was only one prototype bottle (the absinthe was the final version, the bottle was proto, and no wax on the cork) for the saturday morning tasting at Brasserie de la Poste.

And the absinthe was herbal, rich and complex, more "absinthe-like" than the old 1797… and it was fucking good!
The Standard Deviant
It sounds and looks excellent! What's the shape of the bottle like?
Marc
I don't have a picture but it's a nice unusual bottle shape, Italian style, like for Portos.
Absomphe
Fabulous, Sockster!

These wagon wheels were gettin' a bit rickety, anyway. abs-cheers.gif

I guess you weren't paying attention that afternoon when we tasted it along with the Doubs Mystique, and Oxy showed us the 1797 bottle?

I am really looking forward to both the 1797 and the Mystique, they were both excellent!
Deluge
I hope to get a bottle of both on my trip to France and Spain next week!
Marc
Sorry Deluge but it won't be out before november 10th according to Absinthe Classics.
Deluge
I'll be there for a few weeks. Just me, my girl, and my guitar.

Nov. 10th is my birthday so I think it will make a nice present.
Marc
Perfect then! Go to Vert d'Absinthe and ask your girl to offer you a nice birthday gift, I'm sure Luc will have some of the 1797 by then.

Enjoy your EuroFuckyLand trip abs-cheers.gif
Deluge
I'll be visiting Luc's shop on the 6th but alas I'll be in Barcelona around the 10th and I doubt that FSC will have it then. Who knows perhaps I'll just stay in Paris?
Marc
Luc may get some before the batch is shipped to UK.
Steve
You could email Luc and beg him to save you a bottle if he gets any. Remember his shop is closed Sundays and Mondays.
The Standard Deviant
Ah, I remember the bottle! Almost like an old beer bottle. I thought it wasn't finally decided on at the time though. I was just expecting to see a picture of the bottle with label attached on the link mthuilli provided.
Donnie Darko
I'm actually most interested by the Doubs Mystique. It says it was made "without regard to cost or technical difficulties". That, IMO, is the only way to make great absinthe. At least having nothing in common with the old Doubs aside from name and bottle shape is a good start…
Heure Verte
1797 and Mystique should be on the shelves tomorrow for the best, next thuesday for the worse :)
I didn't taste 1797 yet, but Mystique is very nice, mellow and well balanced.
Marc
Now that's good news!
My VISA card is ready (yeah once again).
Deluge
Ok, now I am very excited!
The Standard Deviant
Mathematics everyone can understand:

Roquette 1797 = Delicious
Mystique = Delicious as well
Provenance
Roquette 1797 = Mystique quod erat demonstrandum
The Standard Deviant
Not in the least: using that logic it would say '1797 Roquette = Mystique as well'. You should try them — you would probably like them.
Provenance
I just might. Unfortunately, Rodrigo Rato made me cry.

"the dollar is overvalued…."
Oxygenee
I wouldn't hold your breath, but having just talked to Peter, it's looking like we might actually have the Roquette and the Doubs in stock a day or two BEFORE the November 10th ETA given on the Absinthe Classics website.

I know. Incredible.
speedle
So, the absinthe 1797 roquette and the 1797 referred to at LdF as coming soon are in fact one and the same?

Wild Bill Turkey
Nothing gets past you. Are you the goalie on your hockey team?
Marc
LOL

I know I shouldn't but that one was so good.
speedle
Hey, sharp is my middle name after all.
Tibro
You have a position on the darts team as well?
speedle
I'm multi-faceted like that.

Tibro
I look forward to reading about you becoming catcher on a javelin team, then.
speedle
Have experience with that, do ya? Thanks for the recommendation though, but I defer to your clearly superior wit and wisdom here.

I guess you must miss JBM, and those "bottoms up" nights at The Cuff.
Tibro
Catch this: I never miss.
Hemingway's Hangover

I'm really looking forward to both of these absinthes hitting the market: I haven't purchased anything priced by the British pound for awhile because of the crappy exchange rate but since the euro is creeping up there I should be able to justify a little extra expense!

abs-cheers.gif
Jaded Prole
Last I checked the British Pound was worth $2.47.

Tibro
And the U.S. dollar about 3 squares of clean toilet paper.
G&C
Time to start a war to jump start the economy.
Absomphe
That trick doesn't seem to be working.

Oh, you must mean an actual war declared by Congress.

A quaint, even anachronistic idea, but it could be effective.
Donnie Darko
What, the war on the dollar and consumers who buy gasoline wasn't good enough for you?
Absomphe
Yeah, and what about the wars on drugs, and poverty?

Look how effective those have been.
G&C
Do I need to change my title to Sardonicus Jr.?
Kirk
If you buy gasoline, you're supporting the terrorists.
Jaded Prole
I buy Citgo. I'd rather support Chavez than the Ibn Saud regime.

No, but it has a nice ring to it.

Christ. No wonder I've been ordering so many bottles of Kubler & Lucid. I hope it evens out soon.

Wish I had a spare $98K lying around for this solution to that problem…

Jaded Prole
No xit but 98K is a bit steep.
Selmac
Wow, 0-60 in under four seconds. That car bears a striking resemblance to some of the new Lotus models.
