I am interested in the glasses. How about a price for those? I really don't have a need for the decanter.
Absomphe
Perhaps not, but splitting up such a beautiful set would be a sort of aesthetic blasphemy, like Scarlett Johanssen selling off only one of her "girls".
Wilson
I admit it. I am tempted to get the decanter as well, but have spent so much on absinthe lately that I would likely have to wait a couple of months to do that. You are right though. The set should stay together.
Wilson
The first time I saw a set of ouraline glasses, I was very impressed. I never thought I would have the chance to own any.
Absomphe
They're beautiful, and somehow the uranium factor adds a sense of the dangerous, like they ought to be filled with some of that pre-ban copper sulphate/antimony chloride crap.
absinthist
And only those with high aniline content for betterer louche.
louched liver
Just cut some fat
lines next to the
set whilst the (water)

You are on that bacon, ain't you? harhar.gif
Shabba53
I'm on bacon as much as you're on the bandwagon. Mainly, all the time. wink.gif
absinthist
Bacon is good as it is eaten, not steeped in vodka.
Shabba53
Jumping to more conclusions are you?
absinthist
See above. These two things, simply do not mix. Just as herring with raspberry jam.
Tibro
Tell me you've never washed down pork belly with vodka. Sour grapes, if you ask me.
louched liver
Why the fuck not try,
well, anything?

Good, bad, whatever?

Experience is better than
armchairin'.
absinthist
This is eating it as appetizer, first a shot and then bacon with bread, or even that herring, cucumber, etc, but none is kept in the mouth for that long so as to immerse in the liquor. Of course, everyone is free to try anything. For me, it is just a too weird and too exotic idea.
Shabba53

I guess you have empirical evidence of this conclusion? Probably the same amount of evidence as what you had when stating that the 1805 PF recipe had star anise.

Close-mindedness annoys the fuck out of me. Even moreso than bandwagoning.
absinthist
So, show me there have been bacon or any other meat-flavoured vodkas in the 16th-19th centuries as there were many flavoured vodkas, but surprisingly none with meat.

The fact that someone might launch it today is more probable, just to appeal to those looking for new experiences. Because the idea doesn't appeal to me doesn't mean I am close-minded. I just do not fancy it. If you were making your Limoncello, I would be more for it.

What about all of the alcohols in the Far East that are infused with pig, snake, frog, scorpion, etc etc? Seems to me that there are plenty out there. Even if there weren't any in the past, doesn't mean that it isn't good.

I think you need to watch what you type more closely my friend. You make absolute statements, which you get hammered on, then go back and try to explain that it was just your opinion.

Saying that the flavors don't mix is an absolute statement. Saying that you wouldn't try it because you don't think it would taste good is more of an opinion.

Even so, saying you aren't going to try something so innocuous as bacon vodka does show a level of close mindedness.

Definition of close-minded: stubbornly unreceptive to new ideas.

Sounds like it fits the bill.
Absomphe

Why the hell not?

Vodka is virtually flavorless, and bacon has lotsa flavor, so what you end up with is alcoholic, liquid bacon.

And, since bacon is a pork product, you get the bonus of ballztrippin™ thujone.

End of story™.
absinthist
B, I don't like new ideas, indeed. I am stubborn, too traditional, bitter, conservative fuck. Close me in reservation and you can revel in vodkas flavoured with anything you wish. I have not asked you not to make your tipple, I have just expressed my opinion and even if that opinion will be shared by other orcs in my neck of woods, it is nothing you have to listen to, right?
louched liver

Just some quick researching also led me to find recipes for 'Cock Ale', which is an alcohol flavored with cooked chicken. Different recipes were found in 1677 and 1710 as well as others.

There's also a Mezcal variation that is infused with raw chicken.

Then there's the Lamb liquor attributed to the Mongols.

So, I guess jumping to conclusions may not pay off. wink.gif

Express your opinion all you like. Just don't act like they are absolutes. And most definitely don't publish them as scientific fact. wacko.gif
