Hello everyone my name is Ashley and I am from Ohio in the US. Now that I officially feel like I am in school again I guess I should continue on. I have been reading through the forum for the past several days now. I decided to join so I could hopefully learn more as time goes on being a newbie. I am very excited to be getting my first ever Absinthe that I just ordered a minute ago. After reading through I decided to go with Jade 1901 and Doubs Mystique. Hopefully I get them soon and can join the rest of you in enjoying them.
Jaded Prole
Good choices.
I hope you enjoy them and welcome to the forum.

Hi Ashley, welcome to FV!
OCvertDe
Excellent choices! Welcome!
Shabba53
Welcome! Definitely a nice start.

I've got some Stromu if you'd like to see what the normal newbie is missing. evill.gif

You'll be happier after we build you up high , knock you down , make you cry and then help dust off the insults.

It happens to everyone on any forum you go to. I do not cry easy but if the occasion comes up, it comes up. I am more of a reader than a participator most of the time anyhow. I do not like to give input of things I do not know much about. At this point in time that would be hardly anything except what I have read from here already. So for now I will be lurking about reading more rather than talking until I can experience more myself and get a better knowledge of everything.
Shabba53
Wow. Someone who actually gets it. We need more like you!

No career in politics for you.

Funny, I thought it was a cautionary about making porn.

You mean OctoPorn?

For such a promising newbie, only Elixier would do.

Welcome, Ashley!

I am glad that I am not the only one. harhar.gif

O.k. newbie…you don't have to quote the post directly above yours. There a couple of rules about that that should be in the rule section or something. It's just one of those things. Anyway, welcome.

Yeah, what he said!
pierce
Already such a warm welcome here.
rjordan
Already??? You got away with three days of no hazing. You should feel special. Although this place has gotten so soft and cuddly that it makes me want to puke up kittens sometimes. Anyway, it's not a big deal. This forum just has a few post quoting rules. It would behoove you to learn at least some of the rules before you go breaking them on purpose just to piss people off like some do here. Now we shall see if you have the cajones to stick it out here or if you run away crying like a little girl because somebody mentioned some rule stuff to you. If you are a little girl then sorry. Carry on.

Kirk
I love it when they cry .
Tibro
"Stop it s'more" does it for me.
pierce
No I am not crying. I was just being sarcastic along with the rest of you. Actually the only reason why I wanted to sign up was because you guys seem like decent people to talk to. I do not mind the occasional argument anyhow. I am still here and going to be here a while. As for the rules that is amongst one of the many things I will be reading next. I glimpsed over them before but I guess not good enough. As for being a little girl maybe compared to some of the rest of you, but oh how I do enjoy being young. harhar.gif I was wondering what kind of posts I would receive today after I woke up. To be honest I expected something more.
Provenance
1. Define "decent."
2. Why do you prefer decent people?
3. Please provide examples of indecent and explain why you prefer to avoid such people.

Spelling counts.

Your answers will be graded.
rjordan
O.k. You're all right pierce. Glad to have you aboard.

And yes Kirkenstein, I love it when they cry too. I make smoothies of their tears.

gun thug.gif
rjordan
And Kirk, why haven't you asked this newbie to show us her tits? Or is that only over that the other place that you do that?

All too obvious, DP.

I'm sorry that I don't spell as well as Boggy.

Perhaps I should drink more?

And use fewer vowels.

According to your logic 'Van Rijn' sounds more reasonable than 'van Rijn' (as in Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn for those still living in confusion-although most common is using 'Rembrandt', or maybe 'rembrandt'?). And leave Vincent alone-he is been telling me recently you, browser, are irritating.
sixela
QUOTE
According to your logic

It's not "logic".

It's a thing called "a spelling convention", and they're hardly logical (just look at French, with tons of etymological fossils in its spelling rules that cause you to write "ses genoux sont mous" and not "ses genous sont moux").

Even if there is an (internal) logic, two languages might very well use different logic, too.

The logic in this Dutch rule: it's disrespectful to spell someone's name without a capital letter at the front, but if you include the first name, that is already capitalised.
absinthist
'van Gogh' is what you come across in all Polish dictionaries as well as any books Vincent-related, so we are both right, then. What a relief.
sixela
All the books I know spell "Vincent van Gogh" and "Van Gogh". And he's Dutch, not Polish. He's also dead, so take everything he is telling you with a pinch of salt wink.gif.
Absomphe
I enjoy the dead with a pinch of salt.
absinthist
No wonder-you are half-Polish, not Dutch, my friend evill.gif
sixela
I speak Dutch (when I'm not speaking in tongues), but I'm not Dutch. Even Hellbitch has a complicated theory allowing him to claim not really to be Dutch.
Gertz
Funny enough, there is a newspaper clipping from around 1888/89 that has this to say:
QUOTE
Arles. The crazy man. Under this heading, we have, last Thursday [presumably 27 December 1888], told the story of the artist of Polish nationality who cut his ear with a razor and offered it to a cafe girl. We learn today that the artist-painter is in hospital, where he suffers from a cruel blow, but one hopes that he will be saved.

Found it here. Maybe it's a fake, planted by Boggy?
absinthist
QUOTE
but his surname is difficult for non-Dutch speakers to pronounce (this was the main reason why he liked to be called Vincent and signed his painting thus)

Ha! Assuming the amounts of alcohol Vincent was able to consume, it is very probable there must have been some Polish blood in his veins. We cannot rule that out evill.gif
The Standard Deviant
Maybe they assumed it could only have been a Pole.

Why does the combination of Sixela and tongue give me the flutters?
