I got my bottle! Good!

In a cork crisis mode. Bad!

Anyone with experience with what to do with the contents of one of these things once open, please PM me or post here. I had to remove the contents as the original cork had fallen through into the bottle with only the lightest touch. Thanks for any help!
Green Baron
I wish you luck Pat. Preban is a terrible thing to waste.

I'm refraining from jokes about sending it to me for processing.

But you should know that it is an option.
Phoenix
None of those three bottles are pre-ban. Old yes, but not pre-ban.
Green Baron
How about "Post-ban pre-ban-pre-Ricard-merger brand absinthe is a terrible thing to waste"?
Phoenix
I'd go with Tarragona myself, but to each their own.
Green Baron
Ja whatever, ya knowest what I meant.
Patlow
Thanks I got a very helpful PM from ZMan. Thank you!
Marc
Not received my email?
Patlow
I got it this morning after I checked in here. Thanks!

I think everything will be A-Okay. No worries. It's very delicious. It was a great excuse to start drinking it!

A few advices in case such a thing happens to anyone :

- transfer the vintage absinthe into a clean glass bottle

- remove the cork inside the bottle using this method : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y82j3R7tXw

- transfer the absinthe back in its original bottle with original sediments and everything

- cork it with a strong and tight T cork

- seal it if you're not intending to drink it over the next year

Also :

- use a glass funnel to transfer the absinthe from one bottle to another

- use a stocking (yes a stocking!) to filter the absinthe in case there are still some cork fragments in it

Don't, repeat DON"T use a coffee filter. At least that what I blame for a similar disaster I had last year.

shock.gif who would be so feeble not to drink the precious potion and WAIT for a year? How one knows anything bad might not happen to the bot or the drinker? Carpe diem! Ergo bibamus!
Donnie Darko
Most tea strainers will do the job just fine. NOT a tea bag, but any of those metal sieve like strainers or ceramic strainers with small holes.

Someone who would not be experienced enough and would prefer to keep it till his palate has developed.

But only in that case. Only in that.

PF is the perfect starter absinthe. Start with PF and you know what absinthe is supposed to taste like.
