The fall season has brought on an old urge to make hard cider again especially after being disappointed in so many commercial products over the years.

Who here also home brews, cider, beer or maybe a wine. Tips, tricks or recipes ?
I've een eying all the brewing gear that's under my basement stairs, caked in blankets of dust. I did the math, it's been over 14 years since I brewed… Since before my kids. I can't believe it.

I hope I can take a weekend at some point and get back into it. Have fun with the cider Rob!

I started a nice Kolcsh the other week:

9-10# of American 2-Row (my scale broke for the occasion)
1# Munich
1/2 tsp of sea salt
1/2 tsp Benonite
1 Irish Moss tablet
(hard water)

Sparged a little cloudy so worked in a tsp of AA. (May have been the Munich, been years since I used that type grain, don't recall if it is cloudy.)

1 1/2" oz of saaz for 20 min
1/2" of saaz in the bucket

White Labs Kolsch

Working nice and slow at 63 F

Will probably give her 2 months before bottling.
