BrightSource solar plant sets birds on fire as they fly overhead

Workers at a state-of-the-art solar plant in the Mojave Desert have a name for birds that fly through the concentrated beams of solar energy focused upward by the plant's 300,000 mirrors — "streamers," for the smoke plume that comes from birds that ignite in midair.
Such is the folly that chickens and turkeys can't fly.
Jaded Prole
We could burn a few chickenhawks and be better off for it.
Barbeque is by definition low tech. The only thing flame touches is the wood. Low and slow is the barbeque motto.
A forest fire would barbeque birds if you could get them to circle over it for 12 hours or so.
What's happening here is like putting a hamster in a microwave. Fast. High tech. But not barbeque.
Talk about a killer updraft.

Somebody forgot to tell the birds it was a no-fly zone.
