COLOR BEFORE WATER 10/10
LOUCHE ACTION 8/10
Quick, as expected, and swirls to a nice thick louche.
COLOR AFTER WATER 7/10
White with a blueish tint. It's got a short way to reach the creamy goodness of the Zürcher Fée which is my definite La Bleue-louche benchmark.
There is a rather nice herbal character to this one. With wormwood playing in the back and with fennel up front. There's a minty touch to it in there but sadly it is easily overpowered by alcohol.
After adding water it tries to keep up but ends a bit flat somehow.
It's pretty ok and full at first but the alcohol once again catches up and ruins the richness. More water added mellows this but it's still noticable.
Very ordinary La Bleue style but with a stronger alcohol bite, of course. The wormwood does come back here after it's gone missing a bit in the aroma after adding water. Over all the taste is what you'd expect to find in a La Bleue with little surprise but the higher proof manages to make it taste less clean than an ordinary 50-55% La Bleue, even though there's no actual flaw in process noticable here.
OVERALL IMPRESSION 6/10
This is nothing but a crowd pleaser for a specific market in my opinion. This is from the same maker as the La Ptite, which I find a notch better.
